I also offer to do the repair live on YouTube and Twitch. If you accept this option, Viewers can, and usually do, send tips and any tips received during the repair will go towards the cost of your repair.
Once I have your device in hand, I'll do a diagnostic on what I have: Does it charge or recognize a connection, how bad is the damage (corrosion, burnt components, damaged connectors that are needed for recovery (I won't waste time on a damaged camera connector since it is not needed to get the device to come back to life)).
Starting from the iPhone X up to the most recent series utilize a 'Split (or Sandwich) board' design. This is where they designed the board to be in 2 layers that are stacked on top of each other, with a ring of hundreds of pin points (junction pins) to connect the top and bottom of the board.
If I have to split the boards to make the repair,
That is an Advanced repair. Once the repairs
have been made, I then use a specialized tool
reconnect the boards without having to solder
them back together. This tool keeps me from
having to resolder hundreds of contact points
just to find out that there was more than one
problem.
If you have an Android device and the board is
just too badly damaged to repair, then the
Memory chip has to be removed and placed into a chip reader. Once the process starts, it can
take days to decode the information. All depends on how much data there is to decode. Of course, All aspects of Basic & Advanced recovery will be exhausted first.
If you have an iPhone, there are 3 chips that need to be removed and installed on a "Known Good" circuit board. From there, the data can be recovered as normal with no extra recovery time like the Android Chip-Off recovery.

I started off in a little shop 14 years ago, When I left there I went to the largest chain I could find that repaired phones. Oddly enough, Batteries+Bulbs was that place. They sent me for a course to learn microsoldering and I was hooked. Not long after I recovered my first device: An iPhone 6+ that had been in Lake St Clair for 2 days before the Diver brought it in to me. The family had hired him to find the phone. It was their daughters phone and she had just returned from The Vatican, her choir had sung for the Pope and they were desperate for their memories. Unfortunately, some rough waters had other plans for her iPhone.
Since then I have recovered hundreds of devices from the brink of data annihilation with an 85% success rate.
